How to apply?

Who can attend the events?
Everyone is welcome! Our events are free and open to the public.
Can I apply as a master student?
Unfortunately, we only accept applications starting from PhD candidates and/or experienced researcher. However, if you want to be involved in Soapbox Science Brussels, you can join our volunteering team! Drop us an email at ssoapboxscience.brussels@gmail.com.
Can I apply as a researcher in humanities?
Soapbox Science is focused on research in the fields of STEMM specifically (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Medicine) where there is a strong under-representation of women. Of course women representation in other research fields is crucial as well, but is not the core mission of our organisation.

You are still welcome to apply as we offer a workshop and support to our speakers!
What is the period of application?
Applications are usually open starting the beginning of December. In 2025, the deadline to send your application is Sunday March 2nd.
When should I expect an answer?
Normally, you will be contacted in the beginning of April at the latest.
Can I participate to the event even if I am not selected?
Of course, you are welcome to join our event as a volunteer (drop us an email at soapboxscience.brussels@gmail.com) or simply coming to listen and support our speakers!
What are the criteria applied during the speaker selection?
We evaluate speakers applications based on quality of the research, diversity (language, topic, etc.) and alignment with the motivation of Soapbox Science.
What happens if I am selected as a speaker?
You will be contacted by the organising team. We will fix with all selected speakers a date for a workshop to prepare your talk. The workshop will normally take place between mid April and the beginning of June. The team will regularly communicate with you to provide practical information around the event and the promotion campaign for it.
